Xavier’s School Bellingham Album Release Show
Thursday, March 3rd, local Bellingham band Xavier’s School will be playing their first full-length album release show at Make.Shift Art Space. The show will also kick off the first leg of the band’s three stop Northwest tour, taking them to Magma Fest in Seattle the following night and rounding out the tour at Camp Daze in Missoula, Montanta that Saturday. The album titled “Stay Bold or Get Old” will be available at all of the stops on the tour. You can also check out Xavier’s School in their featured Bellingham Soundcheck video released late last year.
Having been a band for a little more than two years, releasing a full-length album and setting out on tour is no small achievement. Started as a Get Up Kids cover band in 2014, Xavier’s School has since grown into their own sound and style. “We never had a conversation like ‘this is the kind of band we’re gonna be.’ It was just loosely going to be pop punk,” said front man Tyson Ballew in a recent interview with What’s Up Magazine “The fact that we are as emo sounding as we are is completely by accident.”
Also coming out of retirement for the Thursday show at Make.Shift is longtime popular local band So Adult. This will be So Adult’s first show since January of 2014. Most local music fans of the last decade can probably recount attending a house show in one of Bellingham’s infamous college house basements with So Adult as they made the foundation of that house quiver with their sweet sounds of gritty punk rock. If you have never had the pleasure of attending a performance by So Adult, this will not be a show to miss.
