Bellingham’s Scottish Highland Games
May is all but over and students everywhere are making their Summer plans. Graduation is upon us all and June is getting geared up to be a beautiful month in Whatcom County. Every year on the first full weekend in June, Ferndale’s own Hovander Homestead Park transforms into a grand arena for Bellingham’s Annual Scottish Highland Games!
What are the Scottish Highland Games?
The Bellingham Scottish Highland Games are a Country Fair with Scottish flair. Packed with exciting fun and activities for everyone in the family. A weekend long event, this year’s Highland Games will be held Friday, June 3rd – Sunday, June 5th. Featuring Scottish Highland Dancing, Heavy Athletics, Piping and Drumming, Scottish Country Dancing, Celtic Music Showcases, Food and Merchandise Vendors, Kids Games and an Ale & Wine Garden for the adults.
Be sure not to miss out on the free Friday Night Ceiligh (Kay-lee) featuring the Blessing of the Games when the Chieftain of the games drives a spigot into the Firkin for the first time to be served to the masses. The night kicks off around 6pm with live music and continues until close with the famous Flaming Saltaire!
Please be aware that absolutely NO PETS will be allowed inside the park during the Highland Games!
