Dementia affects everyone, from children and grandchildren to friends and neighbors. Mental illness is hard to deal with, but the more we learn about the various forms of dementia and their causes, the better we can use that knowledge to find help for those affected, as well as potentially learn new ways to help prevent these horrible diseases. Since 1983, the Alzheimer Society of Washington has served Whatcom County by providing education and support groups for adults caring for those affected by dementia. Summer is officially here! Which means the 4th of July is right around the corner. Time to break out ol’glory and celebrate our freedom. And what better way to celebrate the birth of our great nation than with Blaine’s Old Fashioned 4th of July Celebration. Loaded with activities for the whole family, Blaine’s annual 4th of July celebration is a day long event that will put you in the Summer spirit while making you proud to be an American. It’s no secret that the community of Bellingham loves to be entertained. From stand-up comedy to punk rock shows and everything in between, there’s nothing quite like a night out in downtown Bellingham. For over seven years now, the community-driven event known as Trailer Wars has graced local movie screens in Bellingham with faux trailers for movies that do not actually exist. This Wednesday, June 22nd at 9pm, the 50th and final Trailer Wars event will take place at the Pickford Film Center.
