Halloween Activities in Bellingham
Time to get your costumes ready and put your party pants on. Halloween is almost here! With precious few days left until Halloween night, now is the time to plan for all of the spooky activities you’ll want to take in. Weather it’s hitting the town to check out all of the crazy costumes or finding this year’s trick-or-treating hot spots, Bellingham has plenty of fun opportunities to offer.
Thursday, October 29th
Rocky Horror Picture Show – Mount Baker Theatre
- Get ready for a night of fun, frivolity, and fetish as Bellingham’s boldest actors bring the cult classic’s characters to life in front of the movie screen. Bursting at the seams with timeless classics, including “Sweet Transvestite,” “Dammit Janet” and, of course, the pelvic-thrusting “Time Warp,” The Rocky Horror Picture Show is about audience participation: callbacks, rice-throwing, and glove-snapping are all part of the tantalizing experience.
5th Thursday: Spooks and Spirits – Whatcom Museum
- Beloved Old City Hall may be safe and happy now, but in its more than 120-year history it has seen some darker days. Join us for the last 5th Thursday of the year and discover some of our old secrets, just in time for Halloween! Sip a cocktail, provided by Bellewood Acres Distilling, and delve into the shadier side of the building’s history with The Bureau of Historical Investigation. Curiosity piqued? Head out with the guides from The Bureau for an add-on 30-minute walking tour around the neighborhood, offering more spooky local history.
Friday, October 30th
Spooky Cover Show – Make.Shift Art Gallery
- Make.Shift is throwing its first annual Spooky Cover Show (see event details here) inviting bands to play 20 minute sets of their favorite spooky / goth / punk bands. So far the line up is as follows: The Cure, Smashing Pumpkins, My Chemical Romance, Murder Plains (Minor Plains performing spooky theme songs), Queens of the Stone Age, Bauhaus, Misfits, AFI, Brand New, Danzig and the Pixies. Doors are at 6:00pm, show starts at 6:30. There is a $6 cover and the show is all-ages with no alcohol or drugs allowed.
Downtown Trick-or-treat – Downtown Bellingham Partnership
- The Downtown Bellingham Partnership invites children with their families to Downtown Trick or Treat from 3 to 5 p.m. More than 100 downtown merchants will scare up a delightful array of in-store “treats” for kids dressed in costume. Look for balloons and posters on participating doors and windows to guide you on your journey! See the Downtown Partnership website for more details.
Nightmare On Railroad – Boundary Bay Brewery and BAAY
- Boundary Bay Brewery and Bellingham Arts Academy for Youth (BAAY), team up for the first time to present The Nightmare On Railroad, a haunted house and show on Oct. 30-31. The haunting spans through Boundary Bay’s Beer Garden, Alleyway and the “New Mountain Room.” BAAY actors will be putting on two different shows: an all-ages experience from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and 21+ from 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Entry fee is $5.
Saturday, October 31st – Halloween Night!
Tell a Tale of Halloween – Whatcom Museum
- Come dressed as your favorite story character (or in other costume) and enjoy some Halloween fun at the museum! Explore Unhinged, our book art exhibition, make a Halloween book, and hear some positively un-frightful Halloween stories. We’ll have face-painting and bookish Halloween arts and crafts throughout the day at the Family Interactive Gallery.
- Watch citizens of Whatcom County emerge as zombies and dance to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” in Bellingham’s Maritime Heritage Park this year from 8 – 9pm. Buy raffle tickets for $1 to support Lydia Place.
Boundary Bay Brewery’s Annual Halloween Bash
- Starting at 9 p.m. come see Scary Monster & the Super Creeps, an epic local David Bowie cover band. Tickets to this 21+ event only cost $5. The Boundary Bay kitchen will close at 8 p.m. to accommodate the event. Food trucks will be available on Railroad Avenue and in the alleyway behind Boundary Bay Brewery.
