Upcoming Holiday Events in Bellingham

Winter is almost here! While it may be getting colder outside, there are always lots of fun holiday activities around Bellingham to keep our hearts warm and  smiles bright! Here are just a few of the great holiday events that we recommend going on around town:

Dec. 14th – Join the Mount Baker Bike Club for a festive and fun lighted night ride to spread some cheer together via two wheels, listen to Holiday tunes and see some great decorative yard lights. Get your lights on, decorate yourself and/or your bike and be jolly with MBBC! Starting at 6pm at Depot Market parking lot (across the street from Boundary Bay Brewery/Bistro). Gather at 5:45 pm, aim to leave at 6pm for casual ride through local neighborhoods. Even though it has been rainy lately, the forecast for Monday the 14th is DRY! But it will be cold – wear your layers. Info: patti.mullin@gmail.com

Dec. 18th – 20th – Catch the 4th annual production of Saving Christmas Town at Bellingham High School, presented by The Dance Studio. This family friendly event features a fun and energetic original dance production. Full of holiday themed jazz, tap and ballet! Tickets are available at The Dance Studio, 1820 Cornwall Ave.

Dec. 19th – The Fairhaven Village Inn continues its holiday tradition as host of Santa Claus and free horse-drawn carriage rides through historic downtown Fairhaven. This Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. Cramer Classics, based out of Lynden, will begin and end the rides outside the front doors of the Inn at 1200 10th Street. Warm up in the lobby and give your holiday wish-lists to Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Allied Arts Holiday Festival of the Arts, continues through Dec. 24th – This 36th annual festival features the work of over 100 local artisans and craftspeople. The affordable, locally handmade products range from jewelry, paintings, wearable art, specialty foods and art from found materials. Fill your weekends with live local music, artist demos and workshops and bring the kids in for fun art projects. The 2015 festival is located at 4145 Meridian St. (near Park Bowl and next to the new Burlington Coat Factory). 10 am to 7 pm daily.  Closing at 3 pm on Dec. 24.

Village Books’ Grinch Community Cares project, continues through Dec. 24th – This event is aimed at spreading good deeds throughout the community, while building a sense of togetherness and holiday spirit. Stop by the store and pick up an official “Good Deed Tracker Booklet” which gives suggestions for 25 days of good deeds, like supporting local independent businesses. Fill out at least three good deeds and return to Village Books for a special gift. The Grinchmas celebration also benefits the store’s annual Giving Tree program. Purchase two Dr. Seuss books at Village Books and they will donate a Dr. Seuss book to a child through their Giving Tree program.
