Why are night guards and mouth guards important?

2013.10.09 - Mouth Guard

Your mandible is a mobile piece of bone that is only attached on the left and right of your skull by a few ligaments and a temporal mandibular joint (TMJ). Throughout the day those ligaments and joints get over worked. We don’t realize how fragile the area is until trauma is introduced. Trauma most likely occurs in athletic events or car accidents. Either way a guard whether it is an athletic guard or a night guard is extremely important to preserve the integrity the ligaments and joints. If you are experiencing “popping”, “clicking”, or any changes in the TMJ please call, (360) 734-6190.
