Why are night guards and mouth guards important?
Your mandible is a mobile piece of bone that is only attached on the left and right of your skull by a few ligaments and a temporal mandibular joint (TMJ). Throughout the day those ligaments and joints get over worked. We don’t realize how fragile the area is until trauma is introduced. Trauma most likely occurs in athletic events or car accidents. Either way a guard whether it is an athletic guard or a night guard is extremely important to preserve the integrity the ligaments and joints. If you are experiencing “popping”, “clicking”, or any changes in the TMJ please call, (360) 734-6190.

What do tooth roots look like in the bone?
People do not realize that when you have a sinus infection your teeth can hurt. Your maxillary teeth (upper teeth) roots sit in the sinus and when mucus and pressure begin to build it can relay to your teeth. If this ever happens come into the office (360) 734-6190 and we can prescribe you antibiotics to clear it up.

When do baby teeth come in?
The rule of thumb for baby teeth is the rule of four. Every four months baby teeth begin to grow in. When do the first teeth come in? At seven months then every four months after. Therefore, 7, 11, 15, 19, 23 months. Which teeth come in first? Those would be the central incisors (the middle ones). Then they start to fan out. Don’t be surprised when your baby skips a tooth at 15 months. Check the diagram so see what we are talking about. If you have additional questions just call: (360) 734-6190.
